One of the chief roles of school council members is to organize events that call for participation of other pupils in the school.  These events help in bringing out the hidden talent among many children.  There are many aspects involved in organizing such events.  The student representatives at the council have to consult other pupils at school, take permission and interact with school authorities, probably find people who sponsor events and look after the various arrangements needed.  This requires them to be energetic, be proactive, and communicate well and a drive to represent their friends truly. Many life skills are learnt during the process.

One of the key qualities of a leader is the ability to make offer a true representative of those who elected him/her and a passion to resolve their issues.  Being a student at the school, the members of student councils can address the concerns and demands of the students to the authoritative bodies.  They can also act in bridging the gap between parent and child or even parents and children.  In interacting with people elder to them and making several convincing appeals, the school council representatives gain some leader ship qualities.

Bottom line, the student representatives should remember that they are elected by other pupils in order to represent them fairly.  Only when this motive is achieved, will the person prove to be a real leader of the pupils in the school.
